Features: Polish is a four-volume textbook for the foundational stage (first and second years) of Polish language majors in universities. The primary goal of Polish language teaching in the foundational stage is to enable students to master the basic knowledge of Polish and, through repeated practice, acquire fundamental skills in using the language, preparing them for the transition to the advanced stage. Polish Volume I and Volume II adopt intensive teaching methods and must be implemented under close guidance from the instructor. Volume I consists of 32 lessons, containing over 1,300 new words, with 2 lessons taught per week (18–22 class hours per week), completing the course in 16 weeks. Each lesson is designed to include basic exercises, text, and review exercises. The authors believe that mastering correct pronunciation and intonation is a task that the entire foundational stage, and therefore, the book does not have a dedicated pronunciation section. Instead, it provides pronunciation exercises and explanations at the back of the book for students to study.
