Features: Ancient Chinese is the source of modern Chinese. Although the written language of ancient people has varied across different dynasties, either in vocabulary or in grammar, overall, the basic words and grammatical structures remain consistent. Therefore, the written language of ancient times is referred to as Ancient Chinese. This dictionary aims to comprehensively interpret the terms and important works frequently encountered in the study of ancient Chinese and its various branches, serving as a reference for faculty and students of liberal arts in colleges and universities, researchers in literature and history, and a broad readership self-studying ancient Chinese. This dictionary is a large-scale specialized reference tool. The ten categories of entries are arranged in nine parts: General Introduction, Philology, Phonology, Etymology (with vocabulary and ancient dialects), Grammar, Rhetoric, Stylistics, Bibliography, and Linguists of Different Dynasties. Among them, Grammar is divided into Morphology and Syntax, and Bibliography is divided into Cataloging, Editions, Collation, and Annotated Classics. The first seven parts are further categorized into two major types: Terminology and Important Works. Poems, classics, and regulations are scattered throughout the Phonology, Stylistics, and Rhetoric sections.
