The carved lacquerware of the Ming Dynasty displayed the luxurious and elegant style of the imperial court. In the Qing Dynasty, carved lacquerware was favored by the imperial court and nobility, ranging from daily necessities to thrones, screens, and more. The techniques of carved lacquerware in the Qing Dynasty reached an unprecedented peak. Carved lacquerware products come in many varieties, including boxes, vases, furniture, as well as stereoscopic figures and various animals imitating ancient styles. The characteristics of carved lacquerware craftsmanship lie in the combination of high and low relief. In pattern design, it is necessary to consider whether the front and back layers are reasonable and easily expressible, with clear and rigorous lines, structures, and outlines, meticulous in every detail. The colors of carved lacquerware are relatively monotonous, combining only red, green, black, and yellow. In pattern design, it is essential to handle the relationships between density and sparsity, void and solid, and the three tones of black, white, and gray. The patterns collected in this book include landscapes, scenery, figures, animals, flowers, birds, dragons and phoenixes, among others. The themes are diverse, and the forms of expression are varied, making it highly valuable for those engaged in arts and crafts and decorative design professionals.
