Features: What do soldiers of the new century look like? Are they the only children with long hair who listen to rock music? Young people who talk non-stop about "awesome," "cool," and "great," can they also go to the army to receive orders and regulations, and take on the mission of protecting the country? Liu Jian's Soldiers tells the story of a group of unconventional young people in the army. The protagonist, also named Liu Jian, has many experiences, especially his thoughts and emotions, which may hide the author's shadow. This guitarist, who organized a rock band in high school but failed in all his subjects, chose to endure his father's beatings rather than cut his long hair. Seeing no hope for his studies, he signed up for the army with the dream of escaping his father's discipline and forming a rock band in the military.
The new military life inspired his creativity, leading to a surge of musical ideas and a series of new works. The lyrics of his military folk songs, which are deeply rooted in life yet rich in rhyme, make the style of his works diverse and captivating. However, strict military discipline does not allow such a rock band to exist. Fortunately, his companions—Steele, Yan Fan, and Da Qiang—are none of them pushovers. Each of them carries a lifetime of hardships and rebellious thoughts in their hearts.
