Features: Idioms are the essence of Chinese cultural heritage and a condensed form of Chinese historical allusions. Some idioms originate from classic literary works, while others come from stories passed down through centuries or are the crystallization of everyday language. Appropriately using idioms in modern language and literature can make the language concise and vivid. Providing idiomatic education for the youth holds great significance for inheriting and promoting the traditional Chinese cultural heritage. This book draws inspiration from the popular grid word puzzles in English-speaking countries, arranging 880 idioms into 88 grids for a word chain game. The experience of grid word puzzles in English-speaking countries over the past century has proven that regular participation in such activities can enhance the memory of the youth while also reducing the incidence of diseases like Alzheimer's and other elderly-related conditions. Therefore, this book is suitable for both young readers and middle-aged and elderly readers.
In each grid puzzle of this book, the characters of the idioms are positioned by numbers. The numbers can locate idioms horizontally or vertically. Readers can guess the idioms based on the plain language explanations below the grids and fill them into the corresponding positions. Since the idioms in the grid are interconnected by shared characters, guessing one idiom can reveal the first or last character of its neighboring idiom. Then, readers can deduce the neighboring idiom based on the corresponding explanation and complete the entire grid accordingly. The shaded areas in the grid represent blank spaces and do not need to be filled. Readers can refer to the idioms table at the back of the book to select the idioms to fill in. The idioms in the table are used only once in this book. Additionally, the answers to each grid puzzle are provided at the back of the book for readers to check.
