Features: "The realm above form is called the Dao, the realm below form is called the vessel." Form primarily refers to the visual aspect. If a person loses their sight, they can hardly take a step forward. Ancients used 'form' as a dividing line between the phenomena and cognitive patterns of things. This shows how important vision is. "Sculpture" is the continuation of nature's 'form' and belongs to the realm of human creation. Especially in the past few thousand years, human creativity in various aspects such as food, clothing, shelter, transportation, military strategy, and martial arts has accelerated, opening up an enormous and dazzling visual sculpture system. As a student of professional design, one cannot immediately enter into various fields of professional design. They must possess certain foundational skills in form, and this skill is usually acquired within the art system because art provides a systematic learning method from simple to complex, including lines, surfaces, light and shadow, color, and the principles of aesthetic form, etc. Therefore, art is the foundation of all design forms. This book displays the art works of some students from Tsinghua University's School of Architecture in the form of critiques. The main purpose is to allow students, both prospective and current, to refer to and learn from these works, understand what the artistic foundation of architecture is, what preparations they should make, and how to improve their own appreciation skills.
