Features: The automotive industry has been booming, and by the end of 2001, China's vehicle ownership reached around 60 million. The development of the automotive industry has brought convenience to people's daily lives, greatly liberating productivity. As the saying goes, "Roads lead to prosperity." In 2001, 32,000 kilometers of new roads were added, including 3,017 kilometers of highways. By the end of 2001, the total length of national highways reached 1.435 million kilometers, with highways accounting for 190,000 kilometers. However, the growth of roads could not meet the rapid development of vehicles, with 90% of roads still accommodating mixed traffic. Particularly during the reform and opening-up and the establishment of a socialist market economy, the sharp increase in motor vehicles, along with a large number of bicycles and pedestrians flooding the roads, led to the saturation and overload of existing roads. The imbalance between people, vehicles, and roads in terms of time and space resulted in a steady rise in traffic accidents. Traffic accidents have become one of the major "public evils" worldwide. Some capitalist countries refer to the increasingly severe car crashes as "civilizational disasters," call cars "flying weapons" or "mobile coffins," and describe overcrowded roads as "funeral paths." Since the invention of cars over 100 years ago, approximately 32 million people worldwide have died in traffic accidents. In recent years, the average number of deaths from traffic accidents exceeds 500,000 annually, with over 12 million people injured.
