Features: To meet the new requirements of college English teaching in society, Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press proudly launches the "College English" series of integrated teaching materials—comprising textbooks, audio cassettes, multimedia CDs, online systems, and a question bank, all fully equipped. A crystallization of collective wisdom: The entire series is co-authored by experienced professors and English teaching experts from renowned institutions such as Fudan University, Peking University, East China Normal University, University of Science and Technology of China, South China University of Technology, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Nankai University, Renmin University of China, and Sun Yat-sen University, as well as publishing organizations. Comprehensive and rational course combination: The series consists of four types of textbooks—Comprehensive, Listening & Speaking, Reading, and Fast Reading—as well as a grammar manual. Additionally, a preparatory-level textbook is available for students with lower starting levels. Each textbook is interconnected, forming an organic whole. Balancing language proficiency and comprehensive application skills: Centered around the "Comprehensive Textbook," each unit explores a theme reflecting contemporary life, supplemented by the "Listening & Speaking Textbook," "Reading Textbook," and "Fast Reading Textbook." These guide students to deeply and comprehensively acquire and master language and cultural knowledge related to each theme, along with abundant materials, while fully practicing their comprehensive language application skills. A winning strategy for quality development and successful exam preparation: Each textbook includes a certain number of exercises similar to those found in the CET-4 and CET-6 exams. The "College Listening & Speaking" series consists of six volumes, each accompanied by a teacher's book and corresponding audio cassettes. This book is the third volume, containing sixteen units, each divided into four parts. Preparation Activities: Revolving around the lesson topic, these activities encourage students to speak, warming them up for further listening and speaking exercises. Listening & Speaking Practice: This section includes two listening materials and two speaking activities, designed to cultivate students' listening and speaking skills. It contains two exercises: 1. Listening Tasks: These develop students' ability to grasp the main idea and extract specific information, enabling them to accurately understand the core message of the text and the author's emotions. 2. Speaking Tasks: These focus on developing students' coherent expression skills, requiring them to respond to the ideas and reflections presented in the text. Students are guided to discuss the set topic, referencing sample short essays from both interesting and contrasting perspectives. Part C Additional Listening: End-of-unit listening materials include dialogues, short passages, or dictation exercises related to the theme. Some lessons also include dialogue exercises similar in format to the CET-4 and CET-6 exams. After-Class Listening: Provides an additional listening exercise or a compound dictation material. To enhance the fun of the course, odd-numbered lessons include elements such as songs, proverbs, humor, or quotes from famous figures. Additionally, two comprehensive tests are provided at the end of the book to assess students' listening proficiency.
