Features: This is a novel filled with mystery and suspense. The mysterious elements in Mo Bai's novels come from the unpredictable aspects of life we cannot grasp, from the uncontrolled fate, and from the unforeseeable future. However, his novels are close to the hearts of those living at the bottom of society. Sun Ming is the owner of a company in Beijing. At an old book stall, he occasionally comes across a book once owned by his long-lost lover, reigniting the flame of love buried deep within his heart. He decides to hire a private detective agency to help him find the owner of the old book. During the summer vacation, a college student named Yingzi comes to the agency for a social survey. The old book piques her great interest, and she, along with her colleagues at the agency, accept the case and begin their search. However, unexpectedly, a series of confusing and mysterious events keep occurring, with death repeatedly striking, leaving them lost in a fog of uncertainty. When the truth of the events finally emerges, some seemingly unrelated incidents they experienced suddenly reveal their unique meaning and value.
The novel is structured through the subjective perspectives of three characters in the story. Their narratives are independent yet interwoven, leaving ample room for imagination. It is a suspense-filled work, with its words permeated with mystery and profound meaning.
