Features: In my experience, sunlight can shatter fragile glass. It once revealed to me words like "eternity," "millennia," and "supreme" that are hard to perceive. It made me marvel at the vastness of the world I inhabit, filling me with constant happiness and gratitude; it warmed me, from the blue cotton cover to the depths of my soul. It is the wilderness, the nest, the origin, and the destination; it is science, religion, and also everyday life. It is everywhere, and with a small focusing lens, it can ignite flames anywhere. This book is a collection of thematic works written by the author Xiao Min over the recent years, following in-depth explorations of themes such as revolution, ideals, authoritarianism, and freedom. The book is divided into six sections, featuring 46 articles. "Imagining France," "Shadow of Germany," "Russian Psalms," and "Sunlight in Perception" blend personal memories with the history of social movements, discussing the true meanings of revolution, freedom, and ideals, and pointing out that no matter how glorious or base the times may be, humans should always cherish their freedom and dignity. The sections "Memory: 1966-1976" and "Leaves" are inspired by the author's personal experiences and reflections, questioning historical truths, exploring her soul, and expressing the poetry of life—sensitive and moving.
