Features: This book is one of the most widely circulated Xiangqi game collections from the Qing Dynasty, but after research by later scholars, it is estimated that about 60% of the games are incorrect. This collection synthesizes the annotations and interpretations of Xiangqi players from generations, with corrected moves recorded in the main sequences. Modern notation is paired with detailed diagrams to express each move, and insightful comments are provided at key points of brilliance and complexity. This not only makes the ancient collection more concise and readable but also guides general enthusiasts in understanding this profound and ancient text, allowing them to appreciate its diverse strategies, hidden traps, and remarkable chess artistry. It is a must-read for Xiangqi enthusiasts.
This is the "Baiju Xiangqi Pudie" (One Hundred Games Xiangqi Collection) presented in a new format. The corrected board positions are used as the official diagrams, and the corrected Laffon method is adopted as the main variation. Unlike annotated editions, this is a "clean version." The "Baiju Xiangqi Pudie" is one of the most widely circulated Xiangqi endgame collections from the Qing Dynasty, compiled in 1801 and attributed to "Sanle Jushi" (The Three-Pleasure Scholar). The original collection contained more than 60% errors. We have dedicated ourselves to presenting a new edition of the "Baiju Xiangqi Pudie" in a revised form, without annotations to save space.
The games in the "Baiju Xiangqi Pudie" are all classics, the masterpieces of folk Xiangqi players from ancient times. Their characteristics include diverse strategies, intricate beauty, hidden traps in the games, and practical moves. Through persistent study, readers can improve their attacking techniques and develop a macro perspective in evaluating situations. It is a valuable reference book for learning Xiangqi. The original collection contains 107 games, but due to one duplicate, there are actually 106 unique games.
