Features: The Basic Clinical Massage Therapy: A Combination of Anatomy and Treatment was originally a textbook for advanced massage therapy students who had mastered the basic techniques of Swedish massage and were undergoing further training in clinical massage therapy. In this book, the "clinical massage therapy" I refer to is the use of manual techniques to alleviate specific pain and dysfunction in soft tissues. As suggested by its title, this book combines detailed anatomical knowledge with fundamental clinical massage therapy techniques. By illustrating structures embedded within photos of live models, we can precisely demonstrate the function of muscles, their location, attachments, how to approach them, the types of problems they can cause, and one or more basic techniques for effective treatment. Students can clearly see the surrounding structures related to specific areas, surface landmarks, and the therapist's techniques. Therefore, this book provides a truly new visual and tactile understanding of anatomical spatial relationships and combines it with the learning of treatment techniques. This is absolutely impossible to achieve through traditional methods. Our approach achieves this through coordinated collaboration. Although I am primarily responsible for the content and Dave Pounds is responsible for the illustrations, we are actually collaborators. From the very beginning, we worked closely together to plan and implement this project. Vicki Overman, an excellent photographer, also joined us with enthusiasm from the start. This book primarily elaborates on Western modern clinical massage methods that use manual techniques to address pain and dysfunction in soft tissues. Its distinctive feature is the combination of detailed anatomical knowledge with basic clinical massage techniques. By observing the structures embedded within photos of live models, readers can clearly see the location of muscles and understand their functions, making it a reference for clinical engineers' palpation and treatment. The book provides over 450 exquisite color illustrations, allowing readers to clearly see the surrounding structures related to specific areas, surface landmarks, and the therapist's techniques. To provide readers with richer and more intuitive information, the description of muscles for each part of the body is organized as follows: Name, Function, Pronunciation, Precautions, Etymology, Related Pain Areas, Overview of Other Muscles to Check, and Treatment Techniques, Muscle Attachments.
