Features: "Shangri-La" is the Tibetan word for "the land of the gods," representing an ideal living environment in the hearts of the Tibetan people—a supreme and virtuous realm shared by humans and deities, where people live in harmony with nature. Gold Cheng, with her exquisite performances, has integrated these elements into our national music, guiding us through the mountains and rivers to explore this pristine, tranquil, and mysterious Shangri-La. Behind the high mountains, Yunnan, and forests lies a colorful natural world, while its enigmatic cultural and ethnic characteristics are vividly unveiled through the author's poetic and painterly journey into the heart of the land. I have visited Shangri-La repeatedly in both dreams and reality. The completion of this book is, for me, an experience of bringing my dreams to life. In June 2000, during my first visit to Zhongdian, I decided to write a book—a book that would showcase the deities, flowers, pastures, canyons, and mysteries of snow-capped mountains in Shangri-La, both in dreams and reality. In September 2000, during my second visit to Zhongdian, I met some friends: Shi Yi from the Diqing Prefecture Historical Records Office.
