Features: This is a science fiction novel exploring outer space. The centenarian Earthling Louis Wu takes his beloved Tally with two other visitors and travels to the stars aboard a whirlwind. They use a time portal, dial a number, and pass through a time tunnel, traveling from one city to another, stepping onto a spacecraft, and crossing a block in three strides. The city flies by like a dream, and the ocean flows under the reflection of four round moons. Along the way, aliens tell Louis and Tally: "We like you, so we altered your reproductive patterns so that even though you have experienced disasters, you always escape. Nuclear bombs, industrial waste pollution, meteorite falls, and galactic explosions—none of these could destroy you. That's your luck." As a result, Louis takes Tally to the stars, but she falls in love with other creatures there. When Louis returns, he meets an extraterrestrial woman who deeply loves him. She is terrifyingly beautiful but is an expert in sexual arts. This book is a representative work of Larry Niven and won the Nebula Award in 1970.
