Features: Since September 2001, most primary schools in China have introduced English courses, teaching basic simple English and fostering children's interest in the language. To learn English well, apart from diligence and a serious attitude, a suitable dictionary is essential. Although there are many English-Chinese mini-dictionaries on the market, most of them are small in size and font, not necessarily easy to read or understand. They typically include over 6,000 words, sometimes as many as 20,000, covering university-level vocabulary. The example sentences are mostly written in formal language, and the layout is too dense, making them more suitable for students in junior high school or above. For young beginners learning the ABCs, these dictionaries are undoubtedly too difficult to use and inconvenient for reference, especially since primary school students do not need to master such a large vocabulary during their early learning years.
This dictionary is specifically designed for primary school students. When they encounter English learning challenges, they need a suitable and helpful dictionary to reinforce the vocabulary they learn in class. It enables them to use English correctly and develop a love for the language from the start, laying a solid foundation for future studies. We have included 1,200 basic English words, with some accompanied by fixed phrases and expressions (a total of 150). These words and phrases are commonly used in children's daily lives and are essential for beginners to master. The vocabulary is explained in Chinese with clear and concise annotations, making it easy for primary school students to consult and learn. Generally, each entry includes at least one complete and authentic English example sentence.
