Three lives, three worlds

Author: (USA) Nie Hualing
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-01-01
Features: This is a work filled with mixed emotions. History and life, reason and emotion, turbulence and tranquility, passion and tenderness, laughter and tears are all blended together in this piece. Reading Three Lives, Three Worlds, you see how a Chinese-American woman, who has wandered her whole life, faces the world with a smile, embracing the vicissitudes of time. I find that it is a melancholic posture, yet more so, a moving one. Why is it called Three Lives, Three Worlds? Life is too hard for Chinese people. Others can only live one life, but Chinese people must endure the trials and pains of three lives and three worlds in one. It could also be considered a blessing. After reading her book, do you cry for her or laugh with her? Do you cry for the people or laugh with the people? When everything becomes history, there are still words, and there are still books. Nie Hualing, Angier, and we all live in the books. After all, there were so many Chinese contemporaries who spent beautiful and joyful times on Mount Айдахо with Nie Hualing, in a place called the Ferry Street. Those happy times are not often attainable.
