The book is divided into two parts: The first part introduces the general situation of Han Chinese residential architecture since the Neolithic Age from a developmental perspective. The second part selects several examples from existing materials to illustrate the types of residential architecture from the mid-Ming Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty, that is, from the late 15th century to the early 20th century. However, residential architecture introduced by Western countries after the Opium War is not within the scope of this article.
