Features: My Parrot Boss is not a book about how to raise parrots or introduce different species of parrots. Through the vivid writing of ornithologist Joanna Burger, the book presents the stubborn, loyal, and humorous characteristics of parrots to readers in a realistic way. In addition to the heartfelt conversations between humans and birds, following the author's footsteps through protected areas in the Amazon rainforest, Australian grasslands, and other regions for research and investigation also allows readers to experience a series of natural ecology journeys as if they were there. Do you need companionship? Do you need constant, loving attention? Then get a parrot! Your life will change completely. Fifteen years ago, ornithologist Joanna Burger adopted a red-fronted Amazon parrot named Tik, who was already 30 years old and had been neglected. As a "stylish" baby parrot, Tik was not allowed to wake up before dawn, but once she had had enough sleep, Burger had to quickly open the cage door to let her fly to the perch. As for the menu, it had to be constantly changed—picky Tik would never eat the same food for three or four days in a row, or she would start wasting food. If you dared to force the stubborn Tik to do something, be careful—Tik could bite hard. Despite her many "bad" behaviors, the brightly colored, highly intelligent, and long-lived baby parrot was Burger's favorite. Under the patient comfort and meticulous care of her and her husband, Tik gradually became gentle and friendly. She often combed the hair scattered on Burger's pillow in the morning, patiently licked and nibbled her fingers, and finally in the mating season, asked her out. Under the author's vivid writing, readers will gain a detailed understanding of the stubborn, loyal, and humorous characteristics of parrots, while also following the author's footsteps through protected areas in the Amazon rainforest, Australian grasslands, and other regions to experience wonderful natural ecology journeys.
