Illustrated Student Dictionary

Author: Rui Sheng
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-03-01
Features: This dictionary selects common or relatively common Chinese characters, totaling over 2,500. All the characters included are standardized characters jointly promulgated and implemented by the State Language Commission, the State Education Commission, and the Ministry of Culture. It does not include corresponding traditional characters or variant characters. Phonetic transcriptions are uniformly in Pinyin, with direct pronunciations added for some more difficult or complex characters. For characters with multiple pronunciations, different pronunciations are not listed separately but are grouped together for annotation and explanation to help readers understand the character in its entirety. After the character entry, the phonetic items are listed first, followed by the definitions, which are presented in an explanatory manner. After the main entries, some common phrases or expressions are selected to supplement the definitions. After the selected phrases, a "Discrimination" column is added to briefly indicate easily misread or miswritten parts, as well as places prone to misunderstanding or confusion with other characters. For name-and-object characters, concise illustrations are added to make them easier for readers to understand, with over 300 illustrations in total throughout the book.
