Features: "Chronology of Deng Xiaoping Thought (1975—1997)," is a compilation based on a large number of Deng Xiaoping's writings and other relevant archival materials from 1975 to 1992. The writings include records of speeches and conversations, directives, letters, inscriptions, etc., with most of them being not previously until the Southern Tour Speech in 1992. The book contains over 600 entries, with the first entry being January 1975 when Deng Xiaoping became Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Vice Premier of the State Council, effectively taking charge of the daily work of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. The last entry is September 1997 when the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China established Deng Xiaoping Theory as the guiding ideology of the entire Party. On January 5, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued Document No. 1, appointing Deng Xiaoping as Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China and Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army. From August 8 to 10, the Second Plenary Session of the 10th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing, where Deng Xiaoping was formally recognized as a member of the Central Political Bureau and elected as a Standing Committee member of the Central Political Bureau and Vice Chairman of the Central Committee.
