Features: Satellite and microwave are the two main transmission methods for broadcast and communication networks. In China, both of these transmission methods are undergoing digitalization. Currently, digital satellite broadcasting has become the primary coverage method nationwide. The 12 programs of China Central Television (CCTV) and the satellite programs of most provincial television stations have adopted digital methods to broadcast across the country. Due to the characteristics of microwave relay in resisting major natural disasters, digital microwave relay lines still hold irreplaceable value even today with the widespread and advanced development of optical fiber communication. This book aims to provide a comprehensive and systematic introduction to digital satellite broadcasting and microwave relay technology.
Chapter 1 briefly introduces some basic concepts of satellite broadcasting and microwave communication. Chapters 2 to 5 discuss the composition, working principles, and engineering design of digital satellite broadcasting systems, including the block diagram of satellite broadcasting systems, geostationary satellites, sun outage, rain fade, polarization, electrical parameters of satellite broadcasting, DVB-S system, satellite receiving antennas, low-noise blocks (LNBs), power dividers, satellite receivers, and the various parameters of the main satellites currently received in China, as well as the engineering design and maintenance of satellite receiving systems. Chapters 6 to 9 discuss the composition, working principles, and engineering design of digital microwave systems, including baseband transmission of digital signals, Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), microwave transmission channels, fading and interruptions, frequency allocation, and the engineering design of SDH microwave relay systems.
This book is suitable for engineering and technical personnel working in the broadcast and television field for study and reference, and can also serve as a teaching reference book for undergraduate students of electronic information-related majors.
