Features: "China Enterprise Summit" is a high-level international discussion forum for business leaders, jointly organized by the China Enterprise Confederation and the World Economic Forum since 1981. The China Enterprise Summit has opened a window for Chinese enterprises to engage in direct dialogue with foreign investors, while allowing foreign investors to get a close look at China. It is an invaluable platform for Chinese entrepreneurs to seize opportunities and exchange ideas in the new century. Over the past 22 years, the Chinese government has regarded the China Enterprise Summit as an international regular exchange event, while some countries and global economic organizations, as well as foreign investors, have included attending the China Enterprise Summit in their agendas. The World Economic Forum has also incorporated the China Enterprise Summit as an important part of its global activities, providing a venue for multinational companies to address questions about Chinese enterprises at the Summit, having first raised them at the Davos Forum.
The 2002 China Enterprise Summit was held in Beijing from April 18 to 20, 2002, with over 500 participants, including leaders from renowned multinational companies, representatives from the Chinese business community, government officials, and scholars. The theme of the summit was "China: Launching a New Era of Transformation." The participants engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions on a wide range of economic and social issues, including China in the context of economic globalization and its competitiveness after joining the WTO, China's relationships with Asia and the United States, reforms in various sectors such as finance, energy, telecommunications, transportation, and services, with a particular focus on the direction of Chinese enterprise reforms, how to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit, and the development of private enterprises in China.
This book is compiled based on the speeches delivered by Chinese and foreign participants at the 2002 China Enterprise Summit.
China has entered an era of transformation.
