Features: It is possible that my readers may have different interests in various parts of this work. But I have tried to describe the events that occurred as detailedly as possible, hoping to help readers understand and evaluate the intentions and motivations of the political climate created worldwide during those turbulent times. This book is a selected edition of the Chinese version of "Gorbachev's Memoirs," and the "Recollections" consist of three parts: First is Gorbachev's personal life and family, recording his experiences before becoming the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and his personal family life and relationships with his confidants. The second part is Gorbachev's political career in the Kremlin, recording his ideas and activities for reform after becoming the General Secretary. Among them, the delicate narration of Gorbachev's reflections on the reform cause and psychological activities, reflections after the passage of time, and justifications for his actions, as well as the open and hidden struggles between bureaucratic factions, are invaluable and unique materials that cannot be replaced by any other books or publications. The third part is Gorbachev's experiences during the "tough year of 1991," with a focus on the detailed process of the August coup and the disintegration at the end of the year, as well as the complex inner feelings of a ruling president forced to resign to the dissolution of the union and the formation of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Gorbachev recalls as such, and readers interpret it differently.
