Features: In Yunnan, there are two most famous ancient roads: one runs from east to west, called the "Southern Overland Silk Road"; the other runs from south to north, called the "Tea Horse Road." Wenshan, located at the intersection of these two ancient roads, was once a place of great prominence during the Tang and Song dynasties and is the birthplace of the Nanzhou and Dali Kingdoms. In 1994, Wenshan was approved by the State Council as a national-level historical and cultural city. The Ancient Road and the City introduces the famous towers and ancient temples in the ancient city of Wenshan, with the traditional streets, residential houses, and the simple daily life of the locals as the most important focus of study. It analyzes the cultural connotations embedded in ancient terms such as "Nanzhou" and "Dali," reveals the sense of standing at the crossroads of Asia brought by the relics of the Nanzhou and Dali Kingdoms, and points out that the value of the ancient city of Wenshan lies in its origin as a plateau city that emerged from the paths of the muleteers on the ancient road, a city where traditional lifestyles are still preserved in the 21st century, and a living, vibrant ancient city.
