The New Business English Real-Life Listening is divided into 18 units. Each unit consists of three parts: Part A, Part B, and Part C.
Part A includes a concise business news item or stock market summary.
Part B features a thematic news report, economic updates, or weekly stock review.
Part C covers a thematic discussion, expert commentary, and investment advice, each accompanied by listening comprehension exercises.
In the first half of the book, the listening comprehension exercises focus on checking learners' ability to grasp numbers, keywords, and the main ideas of the content. The question types are primarily vocabulary fill-in-the-blanks, multiple-choice, and true/false questions. In the latter half of the book, the exercises gradually increase in complexity and rigor, aiming to enhance learners' comprehensive, detailed, and accurate understanding of the listening material. The question types are mostly information fill-in-the-blanks, short-answer questions, and summary overviews.
For each unit, vocabulary, phrases, and special sentence structures relevant to the listening content are provided, along with annotations on the background knowledge related to the topics.
Appendix I includes all the audio recordings and transcripts, as well as translations of difficult sentences. Appendix II provides reference answers for the exercises in each unit.
