Features: This textbook can be used as a teaching material for engineering majors in higher education institutions, and is also suitable for teachers and students of vocational universities and adult education colleges, as well as relevant engineering technicians. This textbook is written in accordance with the "Basic Requirements for Engineering Mechanics Teaching" formulated by the Ministry of Education, combining the achievements of recent years' teaching reform. The textbook consists of three parts and eighteen chapters. Part I is on Rigid Body Statics, with the main content being: Basic Concepts of Statics, Simplification and Equilibrium of Force Systems, totaling three chapters, focusing on forces in a plane while also covering the application of special force systems in engineering. Part II is on Mechanics of Materials, with the main content being: Internal Forces, Stresses and Deformations of Members, Stress States and Strength Theory, Energy Methods, Stability of Columns, Dynamic Loads and Alternating Stresses, totaling eight chapters. Among these, Energy Methods emphasize practical applications, while Alternating Stresses focus more on basic concepts. Part III is on Mechanics of Motion, with the main content being: Motion and Composite Motion of Points, Plane Motion of Rigid Bodies, Basic Equations of Dynamics, D'Alembert's Principle, Principles of Momentum and Momentum Moment, and the Theorem of Kinetic Energy, totaling seven chapters. The first two parts of the textbook are suitable for medium-low credit hours (48-70 hours) courses. For higher credit hours (70-90 hours) courses or special needs of certain majors, parts of Part III can be selected. The textbook also includes carefully selected examples and exercises, emphasizing heuristic teaching and leaving ample space for students' thinking.
