Pathology is a medical basic discipline that studies the causes, development, and transformation patterns of diseases, elucidating the nature of diseases. It serves as an extremely important bridge course connecting basic medical sciences. The main task of pathology is to study the causes of diseases, the processes of their occurrence and development, the morphological and functional metabolic changes that occur in the body during disease, as well as the clinical manifestations and outcomes they cause. The teaching objective of pathology is to enable students to master its basic theories and significant advancements, cultivate their ability to independently analyze and solve problems, and provide the necessary theoretical foundation and practical basis for learning subsequent clinical courses, participating in clinical practice, disease prevention and treatment, and scientific research. Textbooks for higher education institutions of traditional Chinese medicine differ from reference books. Textbooks must possess ideological, scientific, advanced, inspirational, and applicability, while also reflecting authority, timeliness, inheritance, completeness, and conciseness. This textbook is suitable for five-year and seven-year pathology teaching in ordinary higher education institutions of traditional Chinese medicine and can also serve as a reference for postgraduate students, pathologists, and interns. Each institution may select teaching content based on its target audience.
