Features: Art is one of the most elusive things in the world. It is not like science and academia, which can be understood and tested through rational thinking. Art is more a personal and even contradictory emotional experience. If we rely solely on the academic pursuit model of knowledge to knowledge and schema to schema to grasp the spirit of art and acquire artistic ability, then we are either moving away from art or losing our way on the path of art. Similarly, discussing the language and expression of Chinese painting aims to provide readers with a glimpse of understanding, recognizing, examining, feeling, and appreciating Chinese painting, rather than attempting to unlock its secrets with a single key (such as one that does not exist or could never exist). What matters is a kind of "self-talk" style of reflection, where the author hopes, on one hand, to give art enthusiasts a rough rational understanding of the millennia-long development and evolution of the language of Chinese painting, and on the other hand, to offer some constructive help to professionals who are currently learning and creating. To truly enter a state of artistic creation, one needs sincere, unique, and intense personal experiences and inner passion, rather than knowledge about art and its language expression or certain general principles for solving artistic problems (such as the concepts of blending East and West, harmonizing East and West, using Western methods with Chinese content, or using Chinese methods with Western content, etc.).
