Preface
Of making many books, there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. - Christian Bible, Ecclesiastes 12:12.
Before I came here, I was confused about this subject. Having listened to your lecture, I am still confused, but on a higher level.
The goal of this text in its first edition was to introduce the reader to the fundamental principles of database theory, along with an understanding of the connections (and gaps) between theory and commercial practice. The authors over the past five years have made it all the more important to provide readers with an up-to-date understanding of current database practice.
