Features: The National Public English Test (PETS) Level 3 is the intermediate level among five levels. Its standard is equivalent to the English proficiency of Chinese students who have completed high school and studied public English for two years in a college or self-studied to a similar level. Candidates who pass this level can meet the general requirements for employment, promotion, industry selection, further studies, and pursuing degrees. The National College Entrance Examination Commission has organized the writing of this textbook based on the requirements of the Level 3 examination. The textbook consists of 18 lessons, each with a communicative topic. At the beginning of each lesson, there is a brief introduction summarizing the main practice content and scenarios for the candidates. Each lesson includes: dialogues, texts, vocabulary and phrases, notes, exercises, and supplementary reading materials. The textbook provides a set of mock tests after Lesson 9 and Lesson 18, respectively. These tests are designed strictly according to the PETS Level 3 examination syllabus formulated by the Education Testing Center to help candidates familiarize themselves with the level standards, format, content, and structure of the examination. At the end of the textbook, there is an appendix that includes a communicative topics table, a functional notions table, a grammar items table, a language skills table, transcripts of listening exercises, exercise answers, and a comprehensive vocabulary and phrases list. Additionally, the textbook is accompanied by a cassette tape with readings by native English speakers, including content for listening exercises and the listening section of the mock tests.
