Publishing Date: 2003-01-01
Features: This book is an anthology of Yuan qu (a form of Chinese poetry) compiled according to the structure of the well-known "Three Hundred Poems of the Tang Dynasty" and "Three Hundred Poems of the Song Dynasty." It is designed to complement our previously published works, "New Selected Three Hundred Poems of the Tang Dynasty" and "New Selected Three Hundred Poems of the Song Dynasty." The term "Yuan qu" refers specifically to "sanqu," a genre of lyrical poetry that emerged after "shi" (poetry) and "ci" (lyric poetry) in the development of traditional Chinese poetry. This collection includes 295 works by 85 named Yuan Dynasty sanqu poets, along with 23 anonymous pieces, totaling 318 poems. It features both qu (long poems) and xiaoling (short poems), with diverse themes and styles. With this collection, one can gain a glimpse of the full scope of Yuan Dynasty sanqu.
