Four best friends with different backgrounds and personalities, inseparable wherever they go. Childhood companions, embracing pure emotions; enduring youth, telling true stories. In 1976, at the age of 13, amidst curiosity, the son of a gang leader, Jun-sik (Liu Wu-cheng), the son of a poor doctor, Dong-woo (Zhang Dong-jean), the carefree son of a wealthy family, Sang-je (Jung Yun-tse), and the charming son of a smuggler, Jung-ho (Xu Tai-hua), these four friends were inseparable. They would sneak into "Playboy" magazine, tease each other, compete to master Bruce Lee's moves, and often argue over ridiculous stories like the tortoise and hare race. At that age, they lived under a clear and bright sky, free from worries.
In 1981, at 18, it seemed the world lay before them, ready to be seized. The reckless and youthful 18th year, the age of burgeoning romance. Jun-sik, naturally charismatic, acted like a big brother to his friends, while Dong-woo always felt inferior to him, fueling jealousy. Sang-je excelled academically as an outstanding student, while the mischievous Jung-ho brought endless laughter to the group. One day, the four friends went together to watch a performance at a nearby girls' high school. Jun-sik and Sang-je fell in love with the singer, Jin-sook. Jun-sik, aware of Sang-je's feelings, arranged a meeting between him and Jin-sook.
In 1983, at 20, paths diverged, and brothers turned enemies. Jung-ho and Sang-je both entered university and sought out Jun-sik and Dong-woo, who they hadn't contacted in a long time. Dong-woo, for unknown reasons, became a prisoner, while Jun-sik, overwhelmed by the loss of his mother, fell into drugs. Jin-sook, Sang-je's first love, became Jun-sik's woman. Though Jin-sook still loved Sang-je in her heart, her life and relationships were now intertwined with Jun-sik, making it impossible for her to leave him. Amidst this chaos, they entered their 20s, each beginning their own distinct lives.
From now on, you walk your sunny path, I cross my solitary bridge... Jun-sik inherited his father's position, becoming the leader of the gang. Dong-woo, released from prison, became the leader of Jun-sik's rival organization. Childhood companions, now facing each other with swords, ultimately led to Dong-woo's tragic fate. Jung-ho, after graduating from university, opened a restaurant and became a boss, while Sang-je embarked on a path of studying abroad. The four friends, once solemnly declaring that as long as they were together, nothing in the world could scare them, were mercilessly swept away by life.
