On the Western Hemisphere land that we now call "America," human habitation began approximately 40,000–50,000 years ago. So, where did these people originate, and what race did they belong to? This is a question that has been explored and debated for hundreds of years. Over these centuries, scholars and scientists have proposed various hypotheses and inferences. Some say they are descendants of the mysterious Israelite "Twelve Tribes of Moses" or the legendary "Atlantis" (Atlantic Kingdom) mentioned in the Bible; others claim they came from Egypt and the Mediterranean region; some say they originated from southern Russia; others suggest they came from Mongolia, China, and Northeast Asia; some believe they descended from Europe, migrating to America across Iceland; and still others claim they originated from the Malay-Polynesian race or Australian aboriginals. Some Latin American scholars (such as the Argentine paleontologist Ameghino) argue that they are indigenous to the land of America. With the great advancements in space exploration and cosmology, some have even boldly proposed that the original Americans are descendants of "aliens" who visited Earth at that time.
