In recent years, Hu's ink paintings of figures have gained fame both domestically and internationally for their unique style. In the 1980s, when cross-strait relations were nearly severed, Taiwanese collectors went to great lengths to gather his works, particularly his paintings of beautiful women, through various channels. They published two albums, "A Thousand Delights" and "Rich and Light Makeup," featuring high-quality reproductions of his works. The Taiwanese art world holds high regard for his creations. Hu Sanchuan's figure paintings are both rustic and refined, imbued with folk cultural elements. His lines are graceful, his use of color skillful and vibrant, and his compositions elegant. He broke away from the traditional modes of classical female portraits, pioneering a "new style of female portraits." His art exudes a dignified and unpretentious charm, transcending the ordinary with a profound and refined elegance, while also showcasing meticulous craftsmanship and a lively spirit. The formation of his artistic style is closely tied to his relentless pursuit of learning, deep engagement with life, field sketches, and a scholarly attitude that avoids being confined by ancient traditions. His years of experience in creating comic strips and illustrations have also contributed significantly to his artistic accumulation. Hu Sanchuan's comic strip works display diverse techniques and broad themes. They include foreign-themed pieces like "The Necklace," "The Young Guard," and "The Secret of the Tiger King Tank," rural-themed works such as "White-haired Girl," revolutionary war stories like "The Story of the Transport Station," ethnic minority-themed pieces like "Guci and Desi," and anti-American War of Resistance-themed works like "Dong Cunren." The successful portrayal of a variety of characters has left a deep impression on readers.
