Features: Fifteen years ago, Yu Qiuyu introduced Cultural Hard Journey to Harvest, marking the beginning of a cultural prose that blended historical depth and modern consciousness, causing a sensation both domestically and internationally. Fifteen years later, Yu Qiuyu reviewed every step of his long journey, leaving behind the most spectacular scenery in this book, Fifteen Years of Departure. This collection includes only a portion of the articles I wrote during my fifteen-year exploration of Chinese and world cultures. My exploration, though extensive, primarily focused on searching for the "nerve systems" and "acupoints" of major civilizations, making the difficulties I encountered twofold: the hardships of travel and the hardships of thought. In fact, there is an even more subtle difficulty—the challenge of expression. I couldn’t show readers the unique spiritual paradox of the traveler, nor could I exaggerate the difficulties already resolved on the road, nor could I pass on the obstacles yet unresolved in my thoughts to the readers. This of expressive difficulties nearly spanned all fifteen years of my life. Therefore, the articles readers see, no matter how carefree and they may appear on the surface, are accompanied by the all-around torment of life in every word and sentence. I have always cherished my words, which readers can understand. My writings on Chinese culture have been selected and reprinted more frequently, so this time the selection leans more toward my exploration of world cultures.
