While inheriting the artistic styles of the Tang and Song dynasties and absorbing techniques from Tibetan Buddhist painting, it established its own unique style. This revitalized religious art, which had been declining since the Song Dynasty, and spread it to the northern regions of China, leaving behind a valuable legacy for future generations. The scroll paintings stored in the twin pagodas at Baishi Kou in Helan Mountain and the celestial palace of Hongfo Pagoda are among the earliest religious artworks of their kind discovered in China to date. These artistic treasures are now housed in the Western Xia Museum.
