Features: Moby Dick portrays the real scenes of whalers battling the giant whale, the relationship between humans and religion, as well as the struggles and trials of human nature. The whalers are destined to survive in the stormy seas, and their fate is to confront the giant whale and the ocean, challenging themselves, their limits, and nature. Survival against the odds is commonplace for them, yet they remain unfazed, for their love for the sea surpasses everything! Moby Dick is a renowned sperm whale, extremely intelligent, and has escaped from countless whalers. Unbeatable in battle, some believe it is the embodiment of a god; but as it destroys ships and endangers lives, others see it as the messenger of the devil. This extreme, ambivalent image adds endless charm to Moby Dick. Captain Ahab engages in a fierce battle with Moby Dick multiple times and loses his right leg as a result, forging an unbreakable hatred with the whale. He swears to pursue revenge on Moby Dick with all his might. The obsession with revenge drives Ahab to lose his sanity, and to defeat the giant whale, he is willing to sell his soul and sacrifice his crewmates, determined to hunt down Moby Dick until his death. Moby Dick is rich in religious symbolism and the mystical hues of ancient tribal rituals. The idol of the cannibalistic Queequeg, his tattoos, worship ceremonies, and prophecies, as well as the supernatural fulfillment of Fedala’s hallucinations, lend the story a mysterious and eerie atmosphere. In the Bible, Ahab is an evil tyrant, while Elijah is a prophet who can foretell the future, always knowing when misfortune will strike and vaguely hinting at the story’s outcome, echoing Elijah’s warning to Ishmael: "He will make you pay with your soul!" Moby Dick is adapted into modern American English, presented in a bilingual format with Chinese and English, and accompanied by carefully drawn illustrations, immersing you in the life of whaling at sea and providing a profound understanding of the interdependence and opposition between humans and nature.
