Features: The publication of this work, though delayed by over 40 years after the excavation, still contains information that is fresh and of leading academic standards from the current state of academia. Centered around the Wei River-Huashan Mountains, it covers the prehistoric cultures of the western half of northern China. In the multi-block structured prehistoric cultures of China's prehistoric period, it plays a pivotal role. From 1958 to 1959, to support the construction of the Sanmenxia Reservoir on the Yellow River, the Huaxian Team of the Shaanxi Division of the Archaeological Workforce of the Department of History at Peking University carried out large-scale excavations at Quanhu village in Huaxian, by the Wei River and at the foot of Huashan Mountain. This typical prehistoric site revealed the Quanhu Phase II Culture, the predecessor of the Miaodigou Phase II Culture, and divided the remains of the Quanhu Phase I Culture, i.e., the Xiyin Culture, into three sections. The latter represents the largest-scale study of periodization (phases) of the same-site, same-type prehistoric cultural remains following the periodization of the Yangshao remains on the western section of Zhongzhou Road in Luoyang. Meanwhile, based on previous discoveries and research, the Huaxian Team further established the sequence and genealogy of prehistoric archaeological cultures in the region centered around the Wei River-Huashan Mountains at the national level for the first time.
