Features: The 400 Most Common Chinese Sentences is a fast-paced conversational textbook specifically designed for foreigners who are beginners in learning Chinese. This textbook is divided into two volumes: Volume 1 includes Lessons 1–40, and Volume 2 includes Lessons 41–80. Each lesson consists of five parts: Sentences, Text, Substitution Exercises, Vocabulary, and Phonetics or Grammar. From Lesson 1 to Lesson 22, each lesson has 5 sentences; from Lesson 24 onwards, each lesson has 6 sentences. The text sections are all conversational. Out of the 80 lessons, 10 are review lessons. The review lessons are divided into four parts: Phrases, Conversations, Short Passages, and Vocabulary. The two volumes together cover approximately 1,000 vocabulary words. This textbook aims to focus on cultivating beginners' practical ability to use Chinese for communication. Therefore, it adopts a method that combines communicative functions with grammatical structures. The textbook selects 400 most common, basic, and colloquial sentences from modern Chinese and presents them in typical daily-life scenarios, progressing from easy to difficult in a systematic manner. By studying this textbook, learners can quickly grasp and master the content in a relatively short time, enabling them to achieve simple communication with Chinese speakers and also lay a solid foundation for further improving their Chinese proficiency.
