The entire book consists of 8 units, with 5 units dedicated to reading, 3 units to writing, speaking, and listening. The reading section primarily introduces extracting the main idea of articles, receptive reading, comparative reading, the appreciation of prose, and the understanding of classical Chinese. To meet teaching needs, the reading units are divided into mandatory, optional, and self-selected texts. The writing section covers common practical documents such as notices, reports, diaries, records, manuals, and abstracts, as well as observation and reflection, association and imagination, and article revision. The speaking and listening section introduces activities such as listening to the radio, retelling, impromptu speaking, and interviews. The book also features a "Broad Reading Window" to expand students' reading horizons and aims to provide a reading connection between in-class and out-of-class activities.
