Features: This book is a planned textbook for higher vocational and specialized colleges under the Ministry of Education. It is revised based on the Organic Chemistry (edited by Yin Yuying, which won the Second Prize of the Excellent Textbook Award for universities of the Petrochemical Corporation in 1995) published in 1993, in accordance with the Basic Requirements for Organic Chemistry Course Teaching approved by the Ministry of Education in 1996, and referring to the newly formulated Basic Requirements for Organic Chemistry Course Teaching for higher vocational and specialized education by the Ministry of Education. During the revision process, the book focuses on reflecting the achievements of current teaching reforms in higher vocational and specialized colleges, emphasizing the characteristics of specialized education and the cultivation of applied talents. The book adheres to the principle of "essential and sufficient" for basic theories, making adjustments to the chapters bying some advanced and outdated content. For example:
- Acetylenes are moved before dienes.
- Hydroxy acids and carbonyl acids are merged into the chapter on carboxylic acids and their derivatives.
- The chapter on sulfur-containing organic compounds is deleted, and its content is scattered into chapters on alcohols, phenols, and ethers.
- Basic principles and spectral analysis of infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy are added.
- Molecular orbital theory, peroxide effect mechanisms, and some outdated reactions in their preparation are deleted.
When introducing the properties of organic compounds, the book strengthens the explanation of the structure-activity relationship of functional groups and connects it with current hot issues in environmental, materials, life, and energy fields, reflecting the level of scientific and technological development. Inspirational exercises are inserted in the main text to help students consolidate their knowledge and expand their horizons. This book can be used as a textbook for organic chemistry in majors such as chemical engineering, light industry, pharmaceuticals, materials, metallurgy, and environmental protection in higher vocational and specialized colleges.
