Features: This book is a planned teaching material for higher vocational and technical colleges under the Ministry of Education. It was developed based on the principles for textbook writing established at the "Higher Vocational and Technical College Textbook Symposium for Mechanical and Electronic Majors" held in Beijing in June 1999, in line with the current state and development trends of China's higher vocational education, following the approach of "coordinated development of teaching, training, and research." The textbook focuses on explaining fundamental principles and concepts while emphasizing the practical application of basic theories. The writing method adopted in the textbook starts with practice, proposes problems, analyzes and solves them, and finally summarizes concepts, which are then generalized. The textbook incorporates some mature new technologies already applied in engineering, striving for fresh and up-to-date content. Considering the characteristics of higher vocational education, some experimental content is included and elaborated on in separate chapters. At the end of each chapter, there are ample review questions and exercises to reinforce the key knowledge, as well as self-assessment questions to facilitate self-evaluation. The textbook is modularized, with clear teaching objectives for each module, offering targeted, combinable, and selectable content, making it convenient for students from different majors to choose. To meet the needs of various majors and account for the significant differences in teaching hours, the book is written for a multi-hour course. For shorter courses, content can be reduced or selected based on professional requirements. The narrative is concise, easy to understand, and accessible, with a thought-provoking approach. Symbols and illustrations in the book adhere to the new national standards. The entire book consists of 10 chapters, covering main topics such as DC motors and power drives, transformers, AC motors and power drives, motor selection for power drive systems, control motors, and experiments in motor and drive technology. This book can serve as a textbook for "Motor and Drive Technology" in relevant majors (such as power supply technology, electrical technology, industrial and enterprise electrical automation, and mechatronics) in higher vocational and technical colleges, engineering colleges, and some adult higher education institutions. It can also be used as a reference for engineering professionals.
