Features: The "Chinese-English Medical Dictionary" is one of five major medical dictionaries compiled by the Ministry of Health, including the Chinese-English, Chinese-French, Chinese-German, Chinese-Japanese, and Chinese-Russian editions. Since its first publication in 1987, the "Chinese-English Medical Dictionary" (1st Edition) has been reprinted multiple times and has received praise from a broad readership. The book has been in print for 16 years, during which the rapid development of medical science and technology has expanded research fields, giving rise to new disciplines, theories, concepts, and technologies, as well as a significant number of new terms. To adapt to the advancement of medical science and technology and meet the needs of readers both domestically and internationally, the writing committee for the "Chinese-English Medical Dictionary" (2nd Edition) was established under the leadership of the Ministry of Health in 2000 to revise the "Chinese-English Medical Dictionary" (1st Edition). This book is a comprehensive medical reference tool, modeled after the world-renowned medical dictionary "Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary" and based on the medical terms published by the National Technical Terminology Authority of China. It has undergone substantial revisions compared to the first edition. The book contains terminology from over 60 disciplines across various fields of medicine and health, with approximately 200,000 entries—30% more than the first edition. It has also removed the original Pinyin section, increasing the content and information volume by 30% without expanding the word count.
