Features: Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan originated from the development and innovation of the forms passed down from the Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. The original Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan had two variations: the Great Frame (Dajia) and the Small Frame (Xiaojia). Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan was gradually refined based on the forms of the Yang Style Small Frame. It was initiated by Quanyou, a Manchu, in 1834 and later improved and refined by his son, Wu Jianquan (adopting the Han surname Wu, 1870-1942), forming a distinct style. Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan is renowned for its soft and adaptive nature, with movements that are light, natural, and continuous. The forms are compact yet flexible. The frame transitions from expansive to compact, remaining un even in its compactness. The pushing hands technique is meticulous and refined, maintaining stillness without unnecessary movement, emphasizing softness and adaptation.
