Features: The Complete Works of Zhu Guangqian, written by Zhu Guangqian, published by Anhui Education Press from August 1987 to December 1992, totaling 7 million words. It consists of 20 volumes. The first ten volumes include all of Zhu Guangqian's works, Volume 1 includes "Twelve Letters to Youth," "Schools of Abnormal Psychology," and "Psychology of Art." "Twelve Letters to Youth" is the author's breakthrough work. Volume 2 includes "On Beauty," "Schools of Abnormal Psychology," and "Psychology of Tragedy." "Psychology of Tragedy" was written in English during the author's doctoral studies in France and published in 1933. It was translated into Chinese by Zhang Longxi in 1983 and published by People's Literature Publishing House. Volume 3 includes "On Poetry," "Me and Literature and Others," and "Me and Literature and Others" is an expanded edition of "Mengshi Literary Anthology." Volume 4 includes "On Self-Cultivation," "On Literature," "A Review of Croce's Philosophy," and "Revised Edition." Volume 5 includes "Critical Essays on Aesthetics," "A Brief Talk on Aesthetics," and "A Collection of Aesthetic Gleanings." "Critical Essays on Aesthetics" includes 10 papers written by the author during the 1950s aesthetic debate. "A Brief Talk on Aesthetics" can be considered a continuation of "On Beauty." Volumes 6 and 7 separately include the revised editions of the upper and lower volumes of "A History of Western Aesthetics," as well as relevant parts of "Appendix to the Sources of A History of Western Aesthetics" (draft). Volumes 8, 9, and 10 separately include articles and letters written by the author from 1921 to 1937, 1938 to 1949, and 1950 to 1987, which were published but not collected. Volumes 11 to 20 include all of the author's translations. The eleventh volume includes [French] Paul Fedié (now translated as Bédier) "Cédric and Isabelle," [Italian] Croce "Principles of Aesthetics" (revised edition), and [American] Harold R. Halpern "The Social Origins of Art." Volume 12 includes [Greek] Plato "Dialogues on Literature" (revised edition) and "Another Island of England." Volumes 13 to 16 include [German] Hegel "Aesthetics." Volume 17 includes [German] Lessing "Laocoon" and [German] Eckmann's "Conversations with Goethe" (selected translation). Volumes 18 and 19 include [Italian] Vico "The New Science." The 20th volume includes the author's single-paragraph translations published in books and newspapers but not collected. (Xu Zhenxuan)
