Features: This book introduces the magnificent Great Wall, which has fulfilled its historical mission of defending the Central Plains dynasty. When we ascend the majestic pass——Jiayuguan, gazing into the vast desert where numerous beacon towers and ancient fortifications are scattered, we faintly hear the clatter of swords and armor and see the tranquility of herds and flocks. The glory and decline, openness and self-restraint of the ancient civilization, as well as the joys and sorrows of the common people within and beyond the Great Wall, the struggles and integration among different ethnic groups—all are deeply etched on this ancient architectural marvel, which is considered one of the world's wonders.
