Red Capital Heart History

Author: Qu Qiubai
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-04-01
Features: This book is a collection of notes written by the author during his year in Moscow, continuing where Journey to a Starving Land left off. Journey to a Starving Land was published, and the Commercial Press then renamed it A Journey to New Russia. Journey to a Starving Land narrates until the day of arrival in Moscow, while this book recounts anecdotes and observations from life in Moscow. Both books are the author's naive literary experiments and are absolutely not dry travelogues or travel guides!—To understand a country's social life, one cannot rely solely on a few laws or ordinances but must see the soul of that society. Moreover, literary works must at least reveal the author's personality. As for historical observations of the Russian Revolution and explanations of its institutions, I have another work in the style of social science essays titled The Russian Revolution, published in the "World Series."
This book is based on Qu Qiubai's original work A Heart's Journey to the Red Capital, with appendices of his Words for Nothing and related historical research essays. It primarily showcases the observations and reflections of a revolutionary pioneer who went to Moscow for investigation, allowing readers to better understand his psychological journey through Qu Qiubai's literary works.
