Features: "A Guide for Self-Study Exams in Traditional Chinese Medicine," a series of books for the national self-study examination in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is based on the designated textbook "Medical Ancient Chinese" for higher education self-study exams. It adheres to the self-study exam syllabus and follows the three levels of competency requirements—memorization, comprehension, and application—while incorporating modern educational models and examination question types. The aim is to enhance the support service system for self-study exams, improve the ("individual self-study") and teaching level ("social assistance"), and ensure the rationality and standardization of "exam question setting."
I. The book's structure is divided into two parts:
- The Upper Part, "Reading Selections," contains 40 passages in the order of the textbook.
- The Lower Part, "Reading Guidance," is organized by chapters, totaling 6 chapters. It is further divided into the Upper Subpart, "Test Questions," and the Lower Subpart, "Answer Key," which are compiled in the order of the textbook.
II. The content of the questions listed in the book, except for some exercises in the Lower Part, "Reading Guidance," all originate from the textbook. In the exercises of each passage in the Upper Part, "Reading Selections," all questions are related to the passage. In the exercises of each chapter in the Lower Part, "Reading Guidance," if the content is from the textbook passages, the passage number is indicated after the question. If the content is outside the textbook, the book title and chapter number are specified.
III. The book includes 8 types of questions: multiple-choice, double-choice, fill-in-the-blank, true-or-false, word annotations, word meaning differentiation, modern translation, and reading comprehension. The questions emphasize the assessment of basic knowledge, theories, and skills, while adhering to the principle of combining knowledge and ability testing. The focus is on evaluating students' understanding of basic concepts and principles, as well as their ability to comprehensively apply knowledge.
1. Multiple-Choice Questions: Each question consists of a stem (in a positive or negative form) and 5 answer options. Answer requirement: Select the best or most appropriate answer for each stem.
2. Double-Choice Questions: Each question consists of a stem and 5 answer options, with 2–5 correct answers among them. Answer requirement: Select all correct answers for each stem. Incorrect, missing, or extra answers will not be scored.
3. Fill-in-the-Blank Questions: Each question contains several blank spaces. Answer requirement: Fill in appropriate content (words or numbers) in the blanks.
4. True-or-False Questions: These primarily assess students' judgment skills. Answer requirement: Mark a checkmark or cross in the designated location.
5. Word Annotation Questions: These primarily assess students' mastery of common words. Answer requirement: Provide a concise and accurate explanation of the annotated word.
6. Word Meaning Differentiation Questions: These primarily assess students' ability to distinguish multiple meanings of a single word. Answer requirement: Accurately write the meaning of the word in different sentences.
7. Modern Translation Questions: These primarily assess students' ability to translate ancient texts into modern Chinese. Answer requirement: Use direct translation to accurately convey the original text.
8. Reading Comprehension Questions: These are comprehensive questions that assess students' ability to read ancient texts, perform sentence segmentation, annotations, translation, and analytical summaries. Answer requirement: Carefully read the original text and answer each question according to the instructions.
The book is organized by textbook chapters, with the Upper Part, "Test Questions," and the Lower Part, "Answer Key," arranged accordingly. To help readers familiarize themselves with the exam format while mastering the textbook content, we have also compiled an appendix, "Mock Exams and Answer Key," which includes 6 mock exams of varying difficulty levels. The answer key provides key points and scoring standards to facilitate self-assessment and understanding.
