Features: As one of the few battles with the largest scale among the 22 major engagements on the Chinese front during the War of Resistance against Japan, the Shanghai Battle involved nearly a million troops from both the Chinese and Japanese sides. Over more than two months, the Chinese forces deployed over 750,000 ground troops, including 78 divisions, 7 independent regiments, 3 temporary regiments, the Imperial Financial Department's Tax Police Corps, the Central Military Academy's Training Brigade, Artillery Brigade No. 7, 1st Brigade, as well as the Shanghai Security Command, the Shanghai Police Command, and 4 regiments from Jiangsu Security Command. Additionally, 8 air force squadrons (from the 2nd to the 9th) and 1 temporary squadron were mobilized, nearlying one-third of the entire country's forces at the time. As the Japanese forces continued to reinforce, their total strength reached around 250,000, including 9 infantry divisions and 2 detachments (equivalent to 1 brigade) from the army, plus the Kojiki Detachment dispatched from the 5th Division in North China, as well as the 3rd and 4th fleets of the navy. The scale of mobilization was unprecedented.
