Features: Using five "isms" to deconstruct Shanghai restaurants is a distinctive feature of this photo album, or perhaps what sets it apart. Placing the extremely common scene of restaurants in a relatively special and unfamiliar context for analysis enhances the stimulating effect of reading and the provocative nature of the images, making them seem more intense and interesting. The author harbors a yearning for Shanghai restaurants, even though they were devoid of distinct characteristics at the time. However, driven by a firm belief that restaurants are ultimately a form of culture, I carried and attempted to sketch the dream of an idealist. In this dream, nostalgia, local culture, foreign influences, and even unrelated symbols like Van Gogh, Provence, and Hawaii—all form important elements of Shanghai restaurants in my eyes. Today, this ideal has become a reality, and what constitutes the soul of a restaurant is no longer just about food.
